1 Timothy 6:11-21
“Together for Godliness”
Theme/Big Idea: Christians flee their sin and fight for godliness for the glory of God.
Aim/Appropriation/Application: Root your life upon your hope in Christ and nothing else.

Questions for Further Reflection
(1) What do you flee in your life? What are you trying to escape in your life? What are you running to? Are you running to the very thing you are trying to run from?
(2) How can we pursue righteousness if none of us are righteousness?
(3) Whom are the “he’s” of verse 15 referring to? How is this a dual reference to God the Father and the Son?
(4) How would you defend the fact that Scripture teaches that Jesus is God as part of the Trinity?
(5) Since Jesus is God, what does that mean for your life?
(6) Are you rich? Comparatively to all those who live in this world we are? How can we fight to fix our joy in Christ and not our money? How can we fight for “that which is truly life”?
(7) Are you generous in sharing? If you don’t see any generosity or sharing in your life what might this mean about whether or not you are a Christian? Is your generosity a reflection of the generosity that you have known in God’s giving of His Son for us? If not, what’s the disconnect?
(8) How can we fight the interposition of the earth in our lives?
(9) What does it mean to “take hold of eternal life”? Paul isn’t teaching that we can save ourselves from God’s wrath by our works – salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. In light of this truth what does it mean to take hold of that to which we have been called?
(10) What does it mean to guard the faith? How is your church doing this? How are your pastors doing this? How are you doing this in your life?
