“Christ the Warrior” Matthew 4:1-11

“Christ the Warrior” Matthew 4:1-11

An Expositional Sermon
Matthew 4:1-11
“Christ the Warrior”

Theme/Big Idea: Jesus Christ is powerful enough to enter the war we face against the Devil and win.
Aim/Appropriation/Application: In Jesus’ victory over sin and Satan in this text we see that, “in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom. 8:37-39).

Outline:
In this text there are three theatres of battle in the war we face against the devil…
(1) The Battle/Theatre of Unbelief (Matthew 4:3-4)
(2) The Battle/Theatre of Presumption (Matthew 4:5-7)
(3) The Battle/Theatre of Idolatry (Matthew 4:8-10)
