“Christ, Light in the Midst of Darkness” Matthew 4:12-17

An Expositional Sermon
Matthew 4:12-17
“Christ, Light in the Midst of Darkness”

Theme/Big Idea: As the light of Jesus Christ breaks upon the darkness of your sin, repent and believe in Him to be found in His kingdom
Aim/Appropriation/Application: Pray that God would expose the darkness of our sin so that we might repent, and that we would grow in our understanding that repentance wasn’t a one time event in our lives when we first trusted in Christ, but that it is the constant posture of the Christian life.

Outline:
In this text there are three theatres of battle in the war we face against the devil…
(1) Trust God with Time and Circumstances (Matthew 4:12)
(2) God’s Strategy Doesn’t Always Seem Strategic (Matthew 4:13-16)
(3) Obey God’s Call to Repent (Matthew 4:17)
