“God’s Promise Extends to Jacob” Genesis 25:19-31:55

“God’s Promise Extends to Jacob” Genesis 25:19-31:55

An Expositional Sermon
We are all worshipers, and their fear of God is right. God’s people are primarily living for His pleasure. The fear of God is a posture of awe, worship, and reverence. This doesn’t mean that God’s people are machines who relinquish their personality and never have fun or tell jokes. No, but an all-of-life worship of God means that we take on a different posture. Our selfishness no longer drives us, our fun doesn’t embrace sin and hurt others, and our jokes don’t destroy others and insult God for the sake of a cheap laugh. How does your daily worship of Christ look? Do you fear of the Lord? If you don’t fear the Lord, friend, there is cause for fearing that He is against you, especially if you aren’t turning from sin and trusting in the death and resurrection of Christ. Flea God’s wrath, even as King David wrote, “Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.” (Psalm 2:12) Embrace the Son of God and ground your life in a right fear of God.
