“God’s Word Expresses His Love” Daniel 9:20-27

Application/Aim: Embrace the love of God for His people by trusting in Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the fulfillment of this text. He fulfills both what was to be accomplished in the 70 weeks, and he fulfills the historical contours of what would happen in the 70 weeks. The way that God answers Daniel’s prayers for the forgiveness of the sins of God’s people is by helping him to forward to the good news of a covenant that would be forged in a “messiah” that would be cut of – namely, Jesus Christ (Philippians 2:5-11; Hebrews 10:1-14).

“Confession of Sin” Daniel 9:1-19

Big Idea: God’s people go to His word and respond in confession and pleading.
Application: Pray that God would give us the gifts of repentance and faith. Ask God to forgive you and others for sin. Come to God not based upon our insufficient righteousness, but based upon the righteousness of Jesus Christ alone.
(1) God’s People Go to God’s Word (Daniel 9:1-2)
(2) God’s People Respond to God’s Word – Confession (Daniel 9:3-14)
A. Our confession of sin is a response to the difference between who God is and who we are. We see this 4 times in vv. 4-14.
B. God’s appointed leaders will be held to account (v. 6 and 8)

(3) God’s People Respond to God’s Word – Intercession (Daniel 9:15-19)

“Judgment of the Ancient of Days” Daniel 7:15-28

Theme: God will give His people His kingdom forever.
Aim: Don’t despair in the face of suffering, persevere in waiting for Christ knowing that God keeps us firm in His grip and will finally and fully give us His kingdom.
(1) God’s People React to God’s Word (Daniel 7:15-16)
(2) God’s People Receive God’s Kingdom Forever (Daniel 7:17-18)
(3) God’s People Are At War (Daniel 7:19-25)
(4) God Gives His People All Dominion (Daniel 7:26-28)

“Jesus Christ Is Worthy of Your All” Mark 12:35-44

Theme: Jesus is David’s Lord and son, beware of teachers who crave money and honor, and give your all to God.
Aim: Worship God with your all, pray God would guard us from false teachers, pray that God would use our church to further His gospel
(1) God’s King is David’s Son & Lord (Mark 12:35-37)
(2) False Teachers Take for Selfish Gain (Mark 12:38-40)
(3) Give Your All to God (Mark 12:41-44).
