“Jesus Has Authority” Mark 5:1-43

An Expositional Sermon
Who can raise the dead? Who can set the insane to a right mind? Who can heal our illnesses? Who can both enrage us one second and bring us to our knees with unspeakable joyful gratitude the next? Think of the contrast too, this little girl was born, her parents lovingly watched as she grew. They nursed and cared for her and as she grew their joy grew with her, and then she died. Twelve years. All the while, the same span of twelve years the woman was suffering terribly. Bleeding, with no cure. Two totally different life experiences all in the same span of time. I don’t know everything that you may be facing, but friends, don’t let God’s timing drive you to despair. Trust in Christ. Too often suffering can rob us of our joy in Christ. Be encouraged by the Apostle Paul, “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the creation waits with eager longing for the reveling of the sons of God.” (Rom. 8:18-19) One of the most difficult aspects of being a Christian is waiting. I don’t know what your waiting is like, or what your thorns are, but trust in Christ, He will redeem. We may not understand what we face, but we know that He is good, that we can trust Him, and “that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” (Rom. 8:28) Friends, God will redeem and finally bring His people to be with him.
