“Approaching Salvation” Mark 9:14-50

“Approaching Salvation” Mark 9:14-50

An Expositional Sermon
This is a sober call to self-examination. Is my life [salt] – an acceptable living sacrifice offered to God? It doesn’t seem that the point of the salt here is that of a preservative of the world, but a preservative of us, the distinctiveness of what it means to be a Christian. The gospel of Jesus Christ is our ground, our bedrock, and cornerstone. The Word of God is what fills our taste – taste and see that the Lord is good. If we are constantly warring with each other we are losing our distinctiveness, and the gospel of Christ isn’t permeating our lives. Let Jesus rule in your heart and mind. Let His work of redemption humble you. Let your life overflow with joy and gratitude for the good news of salvation through Jesus’ death and resurrection. Faith in Christ is being fully dependent upon Jesus’ death and resurrection and it bears the fruit of humility, cooperation, and perseverance.
