Practice righteousness and give in secret so your Father in heaven who sees in secret will reward you. Pray in secret, and you Father who sees in secret will reward you. Don’t pray empty phrases, but pray how Jesus teaches in the “Lord’s Prayer”. Fast in secret so your Father who sees in secret will reward you. Store up treasure in heaven. Serve God, not money. Don’t be anxious, only seek first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added to you.
Do you ever do things in secret – just as an overflow of your love for God and gratitude for God’s grace in Christ? Beware of a visible religion, but then you go home and you’re a completely different person when everyone is gone. Fight to love God, simply for God Himself, not to inflate your reputation. If your religious activity is motivated by the opinions of men, beware God is not fooled, and you will face an aggravated condemnation.
