Matthew 18 – Greatest is like a Child, Cut Off What Keeps You From God, God Will Not Lose His Sheep, Church Discipline, Forgive Your Brother 77 Times, God Will Not Forgive Those Who Don’t Forgive

Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Jesus said we need to be humble like a child. If we receive a child like this then we receive Jesus. If we cause little ones not to believe in Jesus, it would better if we had a millstone hung around our neck and drowned in the sea. If your hand, foot, or eye causes you to sin, cut it off. It’s better to enter life crippled than with two hands or feet to be thrown into eternal fire, the hell of fire. God the father rejoices over finding his lost sheep. It’s not the will of God the Father for any of His people to perish. If your brother sins against you (1) tell him – you and him alone. If he listens to you – you’ve gained a brother. (2) If he doesn’t listen – take one or two others with you. (3) If he refuses to listen – tell it to the church. If he refuses to listen to the church let him be as a Gentile or tax-collector. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am among them. Forgive your brother 77 times. The kingdom of heaven is like a king who settled accounts with his servants. One owed, but couldn’t pay, so he ordered him and his family to be sold. The servant begged for patience, the master had pity, released him and forgave him his debt. That same servant refused to forgive the debt another servant owed him. The king delivered the first servant to the jailers, until he could pay all his debt. This is what God the Father will do to every one who does not forgive his brother from his heart.

Christians are people who fight their sin, and who forgive others. Our works don’t save us – Christ’s work does that. This being said, God influences the minds and hearts through the Holy Spirit. A Christian’s life will increasingly grow more and more in Christ-likeness.
