It was Paul’s heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel that they may be saved. Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. Moses writes about righteousness that is based on the law, the person who does the commandments shall live by them. The righteousness based on faith says that the word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart; because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. With the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. The Bible says everyone who believes in Jesus will not be put to shame. There is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. How are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? How are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As the Bible says, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
Praise God that His gospel has been preached and that we are able to hear and believe in the gospel. But not all have heard, and we go out to all the nations to bring the good news of the hope of salvation by faith alone in Jesus Christ alone to all nations. God’s sovereign election and choice of a people doesn’t squelch the faithful preaching of the gospel to all peoples in all times in all places. This is the mission Christ has given us, to take this good news to the nations. Let’s pray for more laborers, and let’s pray that God would use us to faithfully share His gospel as well.
