Matthew 24 – Foretelling Destruction of the Temple, End of the Age, Abomination of Desolation, The Coming of the Son of Man, The Fig Tree, No One Knows the Day or Hour

Jesus foretells that the temple will be destroyed. Jesus said many will come in Jesus’ name saying they are the Christ and will lead many astray. You’ll hear of wars and rumors of wars. Don’t be alarmed. Nation will rise against nation and there will be natural calamity, these are signs of birth pains of the end. All nations will hate you for Jesus’ sake. Many will fall away and betray one another. False prophets will arise. The love of many will grow cold. The one who endures to the end will be saved. The gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. When you see the abomination of desolation (in fulfillment of Daniel in the Bible) flea Judea to the mountains. False Christs and prophets will arise and perform signs to try to lead away even the elect. As lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man. Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven. The sign of the Son of Man will appear the nations will mourn, they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. He will send his angels to gather his elect. This generation will not pass away until these things take place. Like a fig tree signaling summer, when you see these things the end is near. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. Only the Father knows when this will happen. As in the days of Noah, people will be living normal lives, but then the Son of Man will come. There will be a separation of the elect and reprobate. Stay awake and be ready for his coming like being prepared for a thief in the night. Work and be faithful in the meantime. If you are unfaithful (a wicked servant) while you await the master will come unexpectedly and will cut him to pieces and put him with the hypocrites where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth.

God’s Word will never pass away. Also, all will know when Jesus Christ returns. It won’t be a secret that only one region of the world is exposed to, but when Jesus comes back riding on the clouds it will be obvious, and no one can miss it. Be ready for His return. Trust in Christ by faith alone while there is time. Be faithful to serve Him while there is time. Don’t be caught off guard and unprepared. For when Christ comes there will be a separation. Don’t let your separation be from Christ and His people. Turn from your sin and trust in Christ today.
