Matthew 2 – The King as a Refugee

Matthew 2 – The King as a Refugee

Wise men visited from the east bringing three gifts to the King of the Jews. Herod and Jerusalem trembled, and the chief priests and scribes said the Bible said the Christ [Messiah] was to be born in Bethlehem of Judea. They went to the house and saw Mary and Jesus and they fell down and worshiped Him. An angel told Joseph to take his family to Egypt to fulfill the Bible, and because Herod tried to kill all the children under 2 years old in order to kill Jesus, which also fulfilled the Bible. After Herod’s death an angel told Joseph to bring his family back to Israel, but because of fear of Herod’s son, Archelaus, they settled in Nazareth of Galilee, which also fulfilled the Bible.

Each aspect of Christ’s youth perfectly fulfilled Scripture about God’s promised Messiah. He is worthy of our worship. The King of kings as a baby with his family fleeing for fear of His death. The power of God and His determination to save His people cannot be stopped.
