“What Is Man?” Daniel 6:1-28

An Expositional Sermon
Hear the call of Darius here, tremble and fear before the God of Daniel, for He is the living God, enduring forever; His kingdom shall never be destroyed, and His dominion shall be to the end. He delivers and rescues; He works signs and wonders in heaven and on earth, He who has saved Daniel from the power of the lions. Put your trust in this God. This world that you see is not all that there is. Friends, don’t put your hope in a nation, a political philosophy, a people, a corporation, your family, or the toys that you got for Christmas. Don’t put your hope in the applause of people, in popularity, in your resume, in your neighborhood, or whatever. God alone is worthy of our awe, our affections, and our very lives. Live for God. And friends, the only way we can live for God is through His own provision, the gift of Jesus Christ crucified. We aren’t perfect, none of us can claim righteousness in and of our selves, the only hope of righteousness and blamelessness that we can have before God is Christ. Christ alone is our protection from ourselves, but also from God’s just wrath that we deserve. Christ lived the perfect life that none of us have lived, and He died the death that we deserve, bearing God’s eternal wrath for the sin of His people. And by His death on the cross, He made a full satisfaction of God’s wrath for His people. He was raised from the dead, to conquer death, to conquer the world, and our sin. Friends, turn from your sin and be found in the eternal protection of God through Christ. We don’t need to fear lions and persecution from this world, because even if we should die at the hands of this world, God will bring us to Himself, and one day Christ will return to judge the living in and the dead.
